We went on a bit of a road trip today. An appointment with the orthodontist meant we had to make a trip to Sligo.
Since moving to Leitrim in 1997 I have loved the drive to Sligo. I love watching Benbulben coming into view and watching the skyline change the nearer to Sligo we get.
Today was a great day for a road trip as it was dry and bright.
After visiting the orthodontist we ventured into the town centre to find the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings for my ten year old and his sister spotted a copy of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mocking Bird.
The drive back was very quiet as they got stuck into their books as soon as we returned to the car.
When we reached Carrick I made a quick stop to visit a local book shop, The Reading Room, to pick up a copy of Caitriona Redmond’s Wholesome.
A lovely day was had by all and the smile of new book in the car was fab!
My co-pilot took the photos as we motored along, the may not show the lovely skyline as we saw it!
It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it. ~Oscar Wilde
