I have taken to lists………….they are fantastic, and ensure all tasks get done. Well almost all tasks. As I sat with a cuppa this morning filling out my daily list of things to do I went in search of inspiration and came up with the following. It’s a Dalai Lama quote for today from the lovely little book called 365 Days of Wonder by the brilliant R.J. Palacio author of Wonder and  and The Julian Chapter […]

Day 100 Tuesday May 27th  I can’t believe it’s day 100 already! There have been plenty of ups and downs in the Shiels house over the past 100 days, broken bones, pulled ligaments, reaching 40 , celebrating with family and friends, health scares, strokes, herb growing, hat knitting, much laughter, a few tears but mostly everyday no matter what there was happiness to be found once it was anticipated and longed for. Today whilst out […]

Day 98 Sunday May 25th This made me very happy and very excited!! Since discovering Lucy’s M.I.L.K (www.madeinlucyskitchen.com)  products over a year ago I have become a little addicted to her beautiful soaps and fragrant body scrub. Everyone in the house loves her gorgeous bath melts. Even my other half is a fan and uses M.I.L.K shaving balm most mornings. I love to have a few spare bars of soap in the house to give to […]

Day 97  Saturday May 24th Tidying up around my room and my gaze fall on this beautiful heart, a present from a friend who has added so much to my life. When I think of her  a smile brightens  my face,  a sparkle lights up my eyes and a spring is added to my step.  I met this lovely lady while I was doing my under graduate degree and during the times I felt I really couldn’t go […]

Day 95 Thursday May 22nd I have been asked to  collaborate on a project by the owner of Made In Lucy’s Kitchen and I am very excited about it! These are samples I made to show Lucy,  fingers crossed they are what she is looking for.  Seize every opportunity along the way, for how sad it would be if the road you chose became the road not taken. ~Robert Brault

Day 92 Monday May 19th Finally took  the sewing machine out again and made this little curtain. I’m delighted with it although if you take a close look the stitches may not be as straight as they should be! It adds a little charm and colour to the kitchen and I’m delighted with it. We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating […]

Day 91 Sunday May 18th A big hello and thank you to all those who have recently followed my blog. I really appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to read my ramblings. Feel free to comment anytime. I have posted a photo of this tree before but it was taken at night whilst the rain poured down. It didn’t show the vibrant yellow blooms that are eagerly awaited each May. Not sure this […]

Day 90 Saturday May 17th Day 90! Only ten more days to go………I’m going to miss participating in this challenge I think. Today was spent pottering about the house and garden. I decided to repot some of the herbs that I had planted over the Easter weekend. I’m not sure if I’m doing this gardening thing correctly but I’m having a great time watching the seeds flourish and grow. I can’t wait to use the […]
