For as long as I can remember I have loved converse shoes. I remember seeing them in Arnotts department store way back in 1989/1990 and wanting a pair so badly. I asked my mum if I passed the Intermediate Certificate (a state exam here in Ireland that is now known as the Junior Cert) would she buy me a pair. I was over the moon when she agreed and spent the next few months deciding […]
Usually the days leading to my birthday are filled with excitement, giddiness and anticipation…….and that’s just me! I’m sure the kids and Darren find it tiresome at this stage. However this year it sneaked up on me without he usual fanfare. As I lay in bed willing myself to get up for work I could hear the sound of footsteps approaching my bedroom door. As the door opened a chorus of happy birthday sang out and […]
We have a lovely local organic shop and coffee shop. KinnEden Organics is situated in Dromad and is the perfect place to head to for a coffee and a bite to eat. I was planning on collecting the youngest and heading to KinnEden for a coffee and a treat. We got held up and had to make do with coffee and hot chocolate to go……and a brownie! I have to say it was the nicest coffee […]
This scrummy light and super absorbent moisturising mousse is my must have beauty product. Made locally Made in Lucy’s Kitchens products are perfect for keeping your skin in tip top condition (and I’m not just saying that because she is a friend). On a number of occasions lately I have been told that I look like I’m 30 early 30s at a push. I’m crediting this good fortune to good genes that are being helped […]
Just thinking of Sunday mornings makes me smile. Pancakes are a firm favorite with the youngest in this house and this morning my stack of pancakes was perfect! Add some fresh fruit, a sprinkling of sugar, a dash of lemon and yum breakfast is served. Try to ignore the orange juice and the maple syrup, after a visit with the dental hygienist they are no longer welcome at the table ………….but that’s a tale for […]
After an early start to the day……the boy had a rugby blitz and it was an hours drive from home. On the plus side it wasn’t far from my mum and sister, so we dropped by my mum’s for a quick cuppa and a chat. This lovely lady called to see us, never a dull moment when you have lovely nieces and a nephew to share a joke with.
Day 12! and it’s the weekend as if anything else was needed to make me happy. On cleaning out his mum and dad’s attic Darren came across this little book of Shakespearean plays. It’s fascinating to hold something so beautifully formed yet so old and wonder who held it before you. What was their story? How did they part with it……. Alas, no wine in the glass ……just Lidl’s finest fruit crush 🙂 The worth […]
This quote is from R.J. Palacio’s 365 Days of Wonder. A treasure trove of positive quotes and sayings that help me through the day!
After a busy day I ascended the stairs to my lovely little study under the eaves and began planning classes and assignments. When I finally tidied my desk for the night it was with a smile of satisfaction as well as happiness.
Day 8 of the #100happydaychallenge and I’m tucked up on the sofa, the fire is lit and I have my knitting needles in my hands. I am going to finish this cardi asap!! I bought this wool after turning 40 last year and never imagined that I’d still be knitting it as my 41st birthday rapidly approached. Lots of other knitting projects have been completed in the mean time but this is definitely getting finished […]
